"After carrying my newborn son, Kruz, around for
the first few weeks, my back was on fire. Before Kruz was born, I had
purchased all kinds of gear, tools, gadgets, and "Mommy-Aids".
Many of them were still in the box. I had tried a few, and while some
worked, others were disappointing.
On this day, I pulled one out that I had tried before - something
called a Maya Wrap baby sling. It's a very simple (and beautiful) sling woven of 100%
Guatemalan
hand-loomed cotton. I had tried it once before, after coming home from
the hospital, but I couldn't seem to get Kruz or myself comfortable. I
pulled out the video that came with it, and watched it once more.
Picking
up Kruz from his bassinet, I slipped him
into the sling. We jostled
around for a few minutes, and VOILA! just like breastfeeding, suddenly everything slipped into place!" (Now,
Kruz's baby sister has taken over the sling).
It was experiences like this - hard-won discoveries of products that
work, ideas that make a Mom's life simpler, and philosophies of
nurturing mother and child through every stage of pregnancy and infancy
- that led me to create this resource site for New Mothers. It is my
strong hope that you will join our community & share your experiences
with us... and that through our interactions we can all learn to be better
mothers.
Whether you are expecting a baby or
have recently given birth --- Congratulations! I'm confident that
the products and services on this site can & will
become indispensable for you.
